On the basis of the national legislation developed in accordance with the European Union Directive, the tasks of the passenger information unit are carried out in Hungary by the Counter-Terrorism Information and Criminal Analysis Centre (TIBEK). The grant awarded by the tender was used to create an IT system of extended capacity – based on the existing core system – for the compilation, management and efficient processing of the PNR dataset.

The aim of the project is to develop the IT system serving the activities of the passenger information function of the National Information Centre, through an agile IT development process that will allow the modernisation of the existing system, increase its operational and functional efficiency and reduce its operational costs. The development will allow NIK to meet the increased capacity requirements, improve accuracy of hits and thus make more efficient use of existing resources. All these achievements are accompanied by the enhancement of the interoperability of the system. Additional airline destinations will also be added to the system as part of the project.

Within the framework of the project, the ETIAS National Unit will be established as part of the National Information Centre and the IT system supporting its operation will be developed.
